More Freedom for Development – Integrated Connection Technology

More Freedom for Development – Integrated Connection Technology With integrated connection technology, PTR Messtechnik is presenting a new concept for electrical contacting. Thanks to this innovative and flexible solution, electrical contacts can be integrated directly in insulating material housings, which makes them an integrative component part of the customer's device.
This creates freedom for more design opportunities and also saves time and cost. Direct contacting means that there is no need for time-consuming manual soldering, the expensive use of a soldering robot, or even wave soldering. Other features of this technology include low electrical resistance, a high level of mechanical reliability, and low space requirement. When technology is selected for connection of the conductor, it is the customer-specific requirements which are most important. For example, conductors can be connected using tried-and-tested screw or time-saving push-in technology. In the past, the design of PCB connection technology determined the design of the terminal. This is not the case with integrated connection technology, because the design can be adapted to meet the requirements of the application.
PTR's solution for DIN rail housings – INS260 (illus. 1) is shown here as representative of the complete IN series – is a good example of the possibilities offered by integrated connection technology.
The simple trapezoidal design of the PCB allows maximum usage. A prism to enable the use of SMD-LEDs is available for optical signal relaying.
The contacts and the PCB are embedded in a modern-design, very compact DIN rail housing.
The uniform shape and bridging capability of all the poles – even between push-in and screw technologies – ensure that the IN series offers maximum compatibility. The material ot the IN housing is a laser-markable plastic which complies with UL94 V0 and NFF 16-101/102 I2F2. Individual marking is possible with up to 4 labelling clips. By working together with PTR Messtechnik, customers can develop their own individual solution, or take advantage of the existing housings which are equipped complete with integrated connection technology.
